Nick & Jo’s Wedding

   The Estate, Waiheke Island
   August 28th, 2013

There is something really nice about re-visiting wedding images from the height of summer while I’m now sitting inside, listening to the rain, rugged up with a hot cup of tea. And this particular wedding was held on one of those perfect summers days, in one of my all time favorite spots; Waiheke Island.

I met Jo and Nick at another wedding I photographed last year, and we instantly hit it off. Their easy-going natures, and relaxed attitude towards the wedding is just my cup of tea. When they told me it was to be at The Estate on Waiheke, I knew we were meant to be. The Estate is set a top a hill over looking Matiatia Bay, which boasts spectacular views back onto Auckland city and Rangitoto. They used as many local resources as possible, including one of my island favorites – flowers from the Waiheke Flower Gallery.

There are so many things to love about this wedding, the unique touch of Jo and Nick writing each others vows, so neither one had any idea what they were going to say on the day made for a hilarious and sweet ceremony. Jo’s amazing dress by Johanna Johnson, with a matching headpiece and low back – stunning. But the main star of the day was Jo’s nephew, who owned his job like no other page boy has done before. Complete with a hand painted sign made by Nick, he took to the isle like a duck to water. Woo-ing all the guests with a flash of his smile, and his dapper, pint-sized suit. But don’t let his blonde locks and boyish charms fool you, when I arrived at the start of day he was sporting just a nappy, and emptying out all the soil from the pot plants around the venue.

Hi, you have amazing photos. I was looking at your photos of Jo and Nick’s Waiheke wedding. I was wondering if you could tell me where the earrings featured in the photo J2 came from? I could only make out …la daq….

Also do you work in Sydney as well?

    Thank you,
    Angela
