Julia & John’s Wedding

   Russell, Bay of Islands
   March 26th, 2013

Julia & John married in the beautiful, quaint Northland town of Russell, in the Bay of Islands in December last year. After spending most of my childhood holidays in Russell with my family, not only was it thrilling to visit again and see all the familiar sites, but it was a treat to photograph in the areas I where I used to play and amongst the trees I used to climb.

The ceremony was in the only little church in the village, Christ Church, which is the oldest existing church in New Zealand, and possibly one of the oldest still being used for its original purpose. Afterwards, the guests strolled through the streets of Russell to the Duke of Marlborough for the reception. With it’s waterfront location, and beautiful sunset beaming in all the windows, it just made for an absolutely stunning evening. Cuter still, Julia and John had set a table especially for my assistant, the band members and I. We were welcomed with champagne and Bluff oysters, and settled in for the evening like guests, occasionally jumping up to snap at important moments.

This couple is beyond lovely, and was just the most amazing start to the season for us to photograph this beautiful day and beautiful guests.

Thank you both so much for having us, it was divine.
